The Compliance Anti Money Laundering Risk Management Officer is a senior professional level role responsible for establishing internal procedures to prevent money laundering and assist in all matters concerning financial crimes in coordination with the broader Anti-Money Laundering (AML) team. The overall objective is to utilize established disciplinary knowledge to identify inconsistencies in data or results and formulate strategic recommendations on policies, procedures, and practices.
The Consumer Digital AML Compliance Officer role supports the Personal Banking AML Compliance Risk Management team in performing activities across the Personal Banking enterprise concerning digital products, services, payment methods, and acquisition channels, which include the following:

  • Identifying new and modified digital products, services, payment methods, and onboarding channels to promote the early engagement of key stakeholders
  • Assessing the AML risks associated with new products, services, and initiatives, and driving risk assessment discussions
  • Providing advice and credible challenge concerning controls and monitoring plans
  • Conducting targeted risk reviews to assess compliance with incremental AML commitments
  • Communicating program enhancements and insights relevant to future product and service developments
  • Representing AML Compliance in Digital Control Forums


Responsibilities:

  • Identify, vet and address potential risks or escalated issues with the assistance of functional partners
  • Collaborate with the team to provide advice to business with respect to applicability of policies and implementation of the AML program and regulatory changes
  • Provide input/advice on business initiatives, new products, and strategic partnerships
  • Participate in internal assurance processes such as Enterprise wide AML risk assessment, self-assessment, and internal audit
  • Promote global consistency of AML ACRM practices and policies within business line and cross-sector
  • Analyze, monitor, and help to solution AML related issues and escalations
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency



Qualifications:

  • 5-8 years of experience
  • Anti-Money Laundering (AML) certification preferred
  • Knowledge of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) requirements applicable to banks
  • Working knowledge of regulatory requirements including local, US, and international laws
  • Working knowledge of industry standards and practices
  • Demonstrated analytical skills
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
     


Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree/University degree or equivalent experience

  • Partner effectively with cross-functional teams to drive compliance initiatives and enhance money laundering controls across Personal Banking segments
  • Participate in cross-functional Committees as an AML delegate and provide effective challenge, when appropriate  
  • Work within team and across business/functional line management to assess complex issues, structure potential solutions, and drive effective resolution within permissible statutory and regulatory frameworks
  • Develop approaches/action plans to compliance and control issues by weighing various alternatives and balancing potentially conflicting situations
  • Evaluate and respond to escalated matters, further escalate as required, and advise senior management on next steps as needed
