This position reports to the Automation & Strategic Initiative Group Lead who oversees the Automation and strategic initiatives for U.S. Personal Banking CAO Cards and Enabling Monitoring Team.  By assessing new and existing manual monitoring for automation opportunities, this individual contributor supports the Group Lead's management of the team's automation identification and submissions as well as provides the Group Lead's execution leaders (Assessment Unit Monitoring Leads - Senior Vice Presidents) reliable, accurate, and timely tracking of automation efforts.  Expert-level Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint skills, excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, and excellent verbal/written communication skills required.

The Operational Risk Officer is a strategic professional who stays abreast of developments within their own field and contributes to directional strategy by considering the application of their own job to the business and is a recognized technical authority for automation within the business.

The position requires basic commercial awareness, and well-developed communication and diplomacy skills are required to guide and influence and convince others - in particular, colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers.

The role has significant impact on the business area through complex deliverables and by providing advice and counsel related to the technology and operations of the business with work that impacts the entire business area and affects the overall performance and effectiveness of the sub-function/job family.



Responsibilities:

  • Establishes and oversees the creation of automation requirement documentation, process flows, and contacts relating to the monitoring of the application of operational risk policies, technology and tools, and governance processes, creating lasting monitoring solutions for minimizing losses from failed internal processes, inadequate controls, and emerging risks.
  • Governance and oversight over automation assessments and submissions.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert for Monitoring Automation for Enabling Functions.
  • Tests and resolves issues with automation submissions.
  • Develops and maintains relationships across the business users and Lines of Defense to better understand and deliver automation requirements by responding to changes in the internal and external business environment
  • Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision.
  • Can exercise independence of judgment and autonomy.
  • Acts as SME to senior stakeholders and /or other team members.
  • Ability to provide effective challenge on new initiatives and changing strategies to senior management
  • Ability to foster strong working relationships with people across multiple lines of business and with support organizations

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Operational Risk experience
  • Experience with MCA including risk assessments, control design and effectiveness evaluation, results analysis, identification of control deficiencies, issue and corrective action plan creation.
  • In depth knowledge of Enabling Functions (Marketing, Consumer Digital, Analytics, etc.) Operational processes and technology platforms supporting the Operation preferred.

  • Bachelor's/University degree, Master's degree preferred
