Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Director of Purchasing, the Receiving Clerk is responsible with the receiving of products and assisting the Director with any related duties as directed.

Essential Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance on a repetitive basis.
  • Stock and rotate products and maintain cooler and freezer cleanliness.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe environment in the stockrooms, loading dock area, coolers and Receiving hallway.
  • Comparing invoices to amount ordered.
  • Assist with monthly physical inventory.
  • Date, label, and rotate all items according to company standards.
  • Adhere to food safety and handling policies and procedures, such as First In-First Out (FIFO) and Cold Chain compliance, across all food-related departments or areas.
  • Maintain the sanitation standards of the food storeroom and walk-ins.
  • Identify and remove merchandise that is outdated, distressed, or unacceptable in appearance to ensure quality and freshness.
  • Organize and clean all walk-in and reach-in refrigerators and freezers.
  • Reduce workplace hazards in storeroom by following safe handling and storage policies and procedures.
  • Refuse acceptance of damaged, unacceptable, or incorrect items, track refusal of items, and communicate to appropriate management.
  • Inspect deliveries and date times to verify freshness, cleanliness, consistency, and quality
  • Read and visually verify information in a variety of formats (e.g., small print).
  • Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift.
  • Grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of varying size and weight, requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
  • Move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces.
  • Move up and down stairs and/or service ramps.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Purchasing, Executive Chef, and designees.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and /or ability required.
  • Related experience in a food & beverage receiving environment, 1 year recommended
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in fast-paced environment.
  • Microsoft office proficient in Excel.
  • Detail orientated with good organizational skills.
  • Communicates well with vendors and employees

Education & Work Experience Requirements:
  • Under graduate degree in culinary; or five years management experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
